Information for Service Members

The US Department of Defense created the Armed Forces Institute of Regenerative Medicine, AFIRM, in 2008.  AFIRM’s goal is to develop new products and therapies to treat severe injuries suffered by US service members in the current wars.

AFIRM is actively researching ways to use regenerative medicine to improve available treatments and create new treatments for these extreme injuries.  Regenerative medicine aims to replace or regenerate human cells, tissues or organs and restore their normal function.
