The RCCC Nerve Repair and Regeneration Program

In addition to the loss of large areas of muscle and soft tissue due to blast injury and severe trauma, there often is the loss of entire segments of major nerves, sometimes as long as 5-20 cm. Even in instances where the nerve itself is still intact, the damage to the surrounding tissue and muscle results in loss of function and restoring blood supply to that tissue becomes necessary. Repair of vascular tissue is essential to ensuring that the injured and healing limb has proper blood conduits to restore the flow of oxygen and nutrients to tissues.
